We recognise the importance of supporting and celebrating multiculturalism and diversity. From our Board and office based teams, to our crews out in the field and those operating our plants across the region we understand that a diverse and inclusive team helps deliver better outcomes for our communities.

We are committed to supporting multiculturalism and diversity both inside and outside our organisation.  Inside, we are working to create an environment in which all individuals or groups feel welcomed, respected and valued to fully participate and contribute. We recognise the value that different life experiences, backgrounds and cultures bring to the work we do and the communities we service and are proud that 17 percent of our staff identify as being born overseas.

Outside the organisation we support multiculturalism and diversity by partnering with local individuals and organisations. Recently we hosted three professionals from the Philippines as part of the Rotary Group Vocational Exchange program. Jerick, Marife and Flordeliza learned about the water industry here in Australia and it was a great opportunity for our teams to learn about life in the Philippines.

In the last year we welcomed Pot Tun, a member of the Karen community here in Bendigo. Pot Tun worked with us for five weeks in the Corporate Communications and Stakeholder teams and the experience was educational for the organisation and Pot Tun.

We are also aware of the cultural significance water has to different groups in our communities, particularly to the traditional owners of the land on which we operate. We are proud of our work with the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation and the recent approval from Reconciliation Australia of our Reconciliation Action Plan.

We will continue to explore opportunities to support multiculturalism and diversity in our region.

This year we are pleased to continue our support of the wonderful Festival of Cultures through our Choose Tap program. By providing our Portable Water Drinking Stations we hope to help everyone keep hydrated while enjoying all that the Festival of Cultures has to offer.
